What are your beliefs about smoking?

Your beliefs and negative self talk reinforce your self-medicating behavior of still smoking.
Every time you say “I need a cigarette”   "It’s too hard to stop smoking” “I just don't think I’m strong enough to stop” you are reinforcing those thoughts and feelings. Programming your mind and body to crave cigarettes. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between your imagination and what we call reality, the subconscious experiences them both as real.
So what do I need to do to change this?  Self-take yourself in the positive.  " I am stopping smoking, I can stop smoking, I am strong enough to stop, I am no longer a smoker, I want  a healthy body, I need to breathe well, I like how fresh my clothes and car smell, etc....
Putting this type of positive spin on your thoughts and self-talk will make all the difference in the world. It 's like an attitude changer! It creates more self-confidence! And this works for everything in our lives.  It's wonderful to change your mood by just changing how you think about something. You CAN stop smoking!

Buzz Away the Buzzing Mind

By Rachel Brahinsky---From the Yoga Journal Arcticle---http://bit.ly/cXfCQJ
----
Anxiety is commonly associated with short, tight upper-chest breathing, says Timothy McCall, MD. Relaxation, on the other hand, comes with slower breaths that originate from the diaphragm. "Lengthening exhalation relative to inhalation reduces the 'fight or flight' impulse and maintains a healthy level of carbon dioxide in the blood, which helps you relax," he says.
For anxiety, McCall recommends a pranayama (breathwork) technique known as brahmari, Sanskrit word that means "bee." The practice is named for the humming sound that bees make. The sound is soothing for a spinning mind, and the practice lengthens the exhalation without excessive strain.
Brahmari can be used as a regular daily practice to encourage relaxation or as an on-the-spot remedy. Because of the buzzing sound, however, it's the kind of practice that you might not choose to do in public. If you are out somewhere and experiencing anxiety, look for a place that's relatively private, like a bathroom or your parked car.
To practice Brahmari Pranayama, sit comfortably, with the back tall and shoulders relaxed. Start by taking a few natural breaths, and close your eyes (as long as closing them doesn't produce more anxiety). Then, keeping the lips lightly sealed, inhale through the nostrils. Exhaling, make the sound of the letter M, essentially a humming sound. Sustain the sound until you need to inhale. Then repeat: Inhale through the nose, then hum like a buzzing bee as you exhale. Continue by inhaling as needed and exhaling with this sound for several minutes. You can practice as long as it feels good.
The longer you sustain the humming exhalation, the more relaxing the Bee Breath is likely to be—but forcing the breath beyond your capacity can have the reverse effect, causing even more stress. So don't force yourself to maintain any particular speed. Inhale whenever necessary, and let the buzzing sound last as long as it is comfortable. Finally, spend a few breaths sitting quietly and noticing whether there are any changes in your breath or mood."

More Hypnosis Questions Answered

Will insurance cover Hypnosis?

Some insurance companies will reimburse you if you get a referral from your doctor to use Hypnosis. You'll want to check with your medical insurance company for further information.

How will I know I have gone into Hypnosis?

The easiest way to know you have succeeded in being hypnotized is to compare how you felt at the beginning of the session and then at the end. Did more time pass than you thought? Notice how your body responds to suggestions of heaviness, lightness, coolness and warmth during the hypnotherapy session.

If I have control issues or have a hard time relaxing can I be hypnotized?

Hypnosis is a guided inner journey where the Hypnotherapist assists the client in relaxing the body. The more you relax the body the more the mind will relax. Clients tend to find that this process helps them relax deeper than they are able to do on their own. For people who feel they have control issues, they are actually great candidates because they are able to stay focused on the guidance of the Therapist and naturally move into a state of Hypnosis.

Can someone who is easily distracted use self-hypnosis?

Relaxation techniques are used that are designed to keep the conscious mind busy in order to bypass it and access the subconscious mind. Techniques include keeping the mind focused on something like counting and as the client relaxes the busy conscious mind also begins to relax allowing hypnosis to occur.

Sometimes I want to change and other times I do not (being honest with myself) can hypnosis help me?

Some people are not ready to give up their habits or undesirable behavior. Without the motivation, or want to change the success of Hypnosis will become challenging. In that instance, NLP may be used to find out why there is resistance and what is stopping the change from being accepted, doing the healing work and then beginning the hypnosis.
